Coaching Bio

Cricket is my passion. I am still an active player and have nearly 30 years experience as a coach of teams and individuals. I can provide expert coaching on all aspects of the game for players of any age. I can also assist with coach education programs. Nothing is too challenging as I have coached 6 year olds through to test players.

I was lucky enough to represent Queensland teams, firstly Under 19's, then Colts (under 21), then Queensland Second XI and also a couple of one day games against the might of the West Indies in the early 1990's. At the moment, I still play Veterans Cricket where I have represented Queensland at National Championships. This has also led to selection in the Australia Over 50's team, including a World Cup win in Sydney in 2018 by defeating Pakistan in the final. I had the honour of being Captain for a number of games in that tournament. Given Veterans Cricket provides competitions and Australian Selection up to Over 70's I will hopefully be able to remain an active player for quite a number of years, their motto being "Cricket is a Game for Life". The added benefit is the continued friendships, plus adding new ones along the way. I started my coaching on part time basis for Queensland Cricket as a coach of their Under 17 and Under 19 teams that competed in the National Championships. A number of these teams enjoyed the success of winning the Championship and it was great to see a large number of players involved progress through the ranks to ultimately represent their State and Australia, e.g. Shane Watson, James Hopes, Andrew Symonds and Nathan Hauritz to name a few. To be able to recognise that I made some contribution to their development as a player is something that I am very proud of. This involvement led to full time employment with Queensland Cricket as a Development Manager and Specialist Coach. I managed and coached the specialists programs run by QC; including the Pace Australia program and Spinner are Winners, as well as providing specialist coaching for batting through the youth programs and Bulls level. After leaving Qld Cricket, to pursue business interests, I returned on part time basis as a spin bowling specialist coach for the Bulls. I also provided coaching/mentoring to Nathan Hauritz for the majority of his career. As a coach I see that my job is to provide an enjoyable and challenging environment that will improve a player's skills and performances and maintain their love of the game.

Had a great session with Trent, and honestly believe I've learned a lot in the hour spent. Didn't just take me through the motions of batting, but explained why and provided real-world examples. Very patient and a great teacher overall, was very grateful for his help and would recommend to other people keen to improv ...

Highly recommend Trent. Trent is very knowledgeable and by the end of the session my bowling action had improved considerably.

Jules's first cricket coaching one-on-one. He was reluctant going in but loved the session with Trent and wants more!
